SONIA'S VILLAGE TALKS...

EDUCATE . ENCOURAGE . EMPOWER . E3

COACHING . INCLUSION . FAMILY EMPOWERMENT

MY JOURNEY

Sonia Marshall-Brown, Founder & President
The goal of Sonia's Village Talks (SVT) is to educate, encourage and empower families of both typically developing individuals and those who learn differently. Another important objective, is to partner with the workforce community to provide coaching services that will enable individuals with different abilities to be included in the workforce in an equittable manner. SVT's is particularly focused on empowering those with different abilities: Asperger's Syndrome "high functioning autism", Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder "ADHD", learning disabilities and related disorders. These disabilities are sometimes referred to as "hidden disabilities" because often times, employers are not aware of employees who are diagnosed with these disabilities. Unfortunately, most applicants DO NOT reveal their disability on job applications because they fear discrimination. I have witnessed "first hand" the devastation that individuals and families experience when their loved ones are unable to find the employment necessary to become productive, independent members of society.
As a mother of two teenagers, I have encountered numerous challenges and faced moments of being overwhelmed. Feeling “overwhelmed” or "isolated" on this parenting journey is a sentiment many of us share; My goal is to eradicate these feelings by creating a community of positive support and learning. In addition to sharing my expertise, knowledge and experiences, I am excited to share insights from various professionals and parents who have been instrumental on this journey called "parenting". Sonia Marshall-Brown is also the founder and Executive Director of It Takes a Village to Educate a Child, a non-profit organization that focuses on creating services to boost the self-esteem of individuals with autism so they may enjoy a more productive, independent lifestyle.
